UMA has announced that they are ending support for oSnap on December 15, 2025. After this date, oSnap will no longer be able to execute transactions from your DAO’s Safe treasury.

If your DAO relies on oSnap, you must take action before this deadline to ensure your governance continues to function. This guide covers how to disable the module and migrate to alternative execution methods supported by Snapshot.

How to disable oSnap

⚠️ Check your signers: Once you turn off oSnap, your DAO will go back to using standard manual signing. Make sure your Safe signers are active and ready to sign transactions manually until you set up a new solution.

Follow the guide provided by UMA to remove the module:

Migrate from oSnap to Snapshot X

Snapshot X is our onchain voting protocol available on EVM chains and Starknet. It provides trustless execution through a Safe module or Timelock. This is the recommended option if you want to move towards fully onchain governance.

  • Requirements: To use Snapshot X, your DAO must use an ERC-20 Votes token or a Whitelist strategy.

  • Available networks: Ethereum, Base, Optimism, Arbitrum, and Starknet.

  • How it works: Votes happen onchain. Once passed, transactions are executed trustlessly using either a Safe module or a Timelock contract.

  • Why choose this: It is the most secure option. It creates a setup where the code handles the results, so you don't need to rely on signers or oracles.

Migrate from oSnap to SafeSnap

SafeSnap (using Reality.eth) is a plugin for optimistic execution. It works very similarly to oSnap.

  • How it works: You keep voting offchain. If a proposal passes, it is verified by an oracle (Reality.eth). If no one challenges the result, the transaction executes.

  • Why choose this: It feels almost the same as oSnap. You can keep your current voting process while ensuring transactions still happen automatically.
